Transportation

My top two transportation priorities are safety and reducing traffic. One of the largest barriers to addressing both these challenges from an infrastructure perspective is that the county does not control most of the roadways that serve our community. As we continue to work with VDOT to move through the backlog of identified transportation priorities in our county we must also: 

• Create efficiency within our public transportation system, specifically our bus system. Currently, it takes multiple hours to travel from one side of our county to another on public transportation. This increases the strain on our road infrastructure, creates traffic congestion, and limits the employment options of our residents to the geographic area in which they reside. As a Board Member, I will leverage my engineering experience, as well as my background as the founder of a highly successful problem-solving business, to identify utilized efficiencies in our bus system.   

• In conjunction with my county-wide CTO proposal, work to both harness technology solutions to address our most persistent transportation challenges, but also work to attract and grow emerging transportation technology companies to our region to both expand our employment base, but also make Fairfax County an epicenter for the piloting of new and innovative transportation technologies.
